Meet Our Panelists
Claire Strom
Program Marketing Lead at Cheqroom, is based in San Francisco, California. An experienced marketing professional, she specializes in customer and product marketing, go-to-market strategy, and market intelligence. Her passion for understanding human behavior and motivations drives her to place the customer at the center of every business decision. Previously, Claire was a Product Marketing Manager at Thomson Reuters.
Will Tapper
currently leads the IT department for the College of Communication & Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Before transitioning to higher education, Will spent 12 years working in local news with roles in Wilmington, NC, and Knoxville, TN as a reporter, producer, and most recently as an operations manager. In his role as an operations manager, Will oversaw all the cameras, computers, and other equipment used by journalists. In his current role at CCI, in addition to overseeing IT and facilities management, Will also manages the photography equipment used by students in their courses and various media outlets within the college. CCI has around 1,500 pieces of equipment that are efficiently tracked using Cheqroom.
Jeff Rhind
Director of University Media Services at Suffolk University, brings over 25 years of experience in corporate video production, documentary post-production, and television programming development. Jeff currently leads a team of nine, managing over 225 technology-enabled spaces across campus and overseeing hundreds of on-campus and off-campus events annually. His team provides rapid response assistance, training, and support to faculty, staff, and students, as well as consultation and planning for various events. Jeff's extensive background and customer service expertise has fostered a strong environment of trust within the Suffolk community over the past 17 years. Outside of work, he is an avid board gamer with a collection of about 100 games.
Michael Ballard
With over 30 years of expertise in broadcast & video production and almost two decades working at universities, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field. Currently serving as the Video Production Coordinator at Brigham Young University-Idaho, he is dedicated to mentoring and lifting students. Guiding them through their educational experience and into their professional endeavors, he strives to bring excellence to every project his team of student employees is assigned.
Steven Vest
is a renowned expert in video production and currently serves as the Student Media Production Coordinator at Brigham Young University-Idaho. With over 12 years of experience in the field, Steven has honed his craft working on a diverse range of projects. In addition to his academic role, he is the founder and director of the Grand Teton Film Festival, a platform that celebrates cinematic excellence and nurtures emerging talent. Passionate about storytelling and education, he is committed to empowering the next generation of media professionals by sharing his insights and experiences.
Matthew Dezii
is the Media and Technical Equipment Manager at Suffolk University, where he brings over a decade of experience in TV and video production across news, corporate and concerts, to the forefront of higher education. With more than 8 years dedicated to enhancing educational experiences through technology, Matthew has successfully bridged the gap between academia and corporate video production continually seeking out innovative approaches to integrate cutting-edge tools into educational settings, such as purchasing and maintaining the equipment for students to learn and grow their skills. He has a passion for learning and he enjoys helping make complex technical concepts accessible to students and faculty alike.
