School of Visual Arts (SVA) is a multidisciplinary college of art and design, known for its unparalleled faculty and innovative curriculum. The MFA Fine Art Department has been using CHEQROOM to manage their valuable AV gear, like cameras, tripods and camcorders.

Equipment would always get lost or damaged

In the past, the School of Visual Arts would always rely on traditional equipment management methods, such as pen and paper or spreadsheets. Not only did those systems turn out to be time-consuming but they were also really expensive, prone to inaccuracy and poor forecasts.

And often, items would get lost or damaged. Keeping track of things was just really hard, as nobody actually knew who had what equipment and when it was due back.

“People would have projectors and all we had, was a running list of what was where,” admits Pamela Council, program coordinator at SVA. “That’s why we started to look for a trustworthy solution that would keep us organized. We were clearly in need of a system that would make the check-out process a lot easier and faster for both our students and our staff.”

Like a library with a catalog system

“Working with CHEQROOM is a breeze,” says Council. “It’s like having to choose between a library with a catalog system or a library without one. It definitely makes it easier to know who has got what equipment and it saves us a lot of time too . I guess you could say CHEQROOM really takes all the guess work out of equipment management.”

CHEQROOM is currently being used on mobile, by two of SVA’s employees. Pamela Council: “They think it’s really convenient. All equipment data is retained in one place. This helps keep the system accurate and up-to-date.”
